Commissioner Bernard Hogan Howe, Britain’s most senior policeman, has recently stated that CCTV cameras should be installed by homeowners and businesses to help detectives solve crimes in the age of austerity.
In an interview with the Telegraph newspaper, the Commissioner also said that homeowners must make efforts to install equipment properly to avoid undermining police inquiries.
So is this all a little too alarmist? Well, we at Croma don’t think so.
Every year in the UK, there are over 1 million actual or attempted burglaries. That means one takes place every 40 seconds! And according to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW), most burglaries are not pre-planned but are committed by opportunistic criminals. What we find even more shocking is that in a recent survey carried out by the Victim Support Agency, a staggering 1 in 4 victims have had their house broken into more than once.
If you are fortunate enough for this not to have happened to you before, be sure to secure your home before an event. what most victims do and wait until after the event to make their homes as safe as possible. The hurt and anger that a victim feels after a break-in can be absolutely devastating. We’ve seen it many times before.
That is why we created CromaAIR™ - our wireless home security system.
CromaAIR™ is a home alarm and surveillance system that wirelessly connects to your smart phone giving you full control of your home security, wherever you are.
